Hyperloop One , is the futuristic tube-based high-speed transportation system which proposes to propel pod-like vehicles through a near-vacuum tube at speeds close to 1200 km/h. It is projected as the fastest way to travel between two places. Among the proposed routes and their feasibility, Hyperloop is potentially looking at five Indian sectors where the system can be built: Delhi-Mumbai, Bangalore-Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai-Bangalore, Mumbai-Chennai and a port connector project.

“Hyperloop is a new way to move people and things at airline speeds for the price of a bus ticket. It’s on-demand, energy-efficient and safe. Think: broadband for transportation,” the company says on its website.
Tech billionaire, entrepreneur and inventor Elon Musk's brainchild, the company has selected 35 teams from all over the world to realize the potential of the system across different routes around the world - with one of them being India. If the company has its way the travel time between routes like Delhi-Mumbai (~1200kms) could be covered in less than an hour.

The ‘Hyperloop One Global Challenge’, announced by the company in May 2016, had seen a plethora of 2,600 teams of engineers and planners from across the globe, according to a report from Inverse. Among them 35 finalist teams were announced on Friday, and will be present at three showcases that will be held by the company in New Delhi on February 28, Washington DC on April 6 and London on April 27.
The first showcase to be held in New Delhi on February 28 will see government leaders and business tycoons as invitees, to display the potential of the high-speed system in their individual regions. The company has already signed deals to build a Hyperloop between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
“The Hyperloop will run on renewable energy. There will be solar panels on the top of the tube, wind turbines in the pylons. We will generate more energy than we need. It would be like having a power plant that also transports people. That and advertising means you can run a profitable business,” Gresta said, Chairman of HTT.
It estimates that a single tube could carry 1.44 lakh passengers daily at 40-second intervals. Over a distance of 500 km, it is aiming for ticket price under $30, or Rs 200.
